Re: Dusy and Palisade Basin TR
Thanks for the trip report and the (usual) gorgeous photos. I especially love the sunset in Palisade Basin.
I don’t need a goal destination. I need a destination that meets my goals.

Re: Dusy and Palisade Basin TR
Thanks.
A few more:
Dusy Basin
Palisade Basin (the inlet here had hundreds of Yellow Legged Frog tadpoles)
Dusy Basin, again
Marmots
These were with my older 40D, carried in a homemade case made from silnylon and some old foam padding. Looks like crap, but works like a charm.rrivera wrote:What camera are using and how do you carry it?

Incredible photography! Thanks for posting. Did it look like the fish had been gillnetted from the Barrett Lakes?

Thanks richlong.
I don't think gill-netting was involved. After getting back I did some research and found notes from Knapp's website stating the lake was observed to be fishless in the 90's (although previously stocked - the source notes the lake 'reverted' to fishless). I will note that not all the lakes in the basin are fishless.richlong8 wrote:Did it look like the fish had been gillnetted from the Barrett Lakes?

I ran into an old cowboy fishing at Barrett Lake in 1997. He had several large fish. I caught several tiny ones at the outlet. I have not tried fishing there since then.

Absolutely gorgeous photos!
The last time I camped at Dusy Basin (Columbine Lake) had lots of rain (caused flooding in the Owens Valley,) but not such spectacular color.
And, a long time ago, when camped at Barrett Lakes, even had more rain...constant. Couldn't think of drying out then.

The photos are simply stunning (except for the marmots, which are horrifying)! I was in the Sierra for the past 9 days, and there are so many great trip reports to catch up on.
