If you plan to camp in SEKI (Dorst or Lodgepole Campground) before starting a trip
here is some news about closures dates you should be aware of:

For a Few Days in Late July and Early August, Visitors May Have a Tougher Time Finding
Campsites in Kings Canyon National Park
Three Rivers, CA – Visitors may have a tougher time finding campsites in Grant Grove
at Kings Canyon National Park for a few days in late July and early August due to road
work to extend the life of the pavement during a shorter-than- normal construction
season. This is due to temporary closures in Sequoia National Park at Dorst Campground
from Sunday, July 24, at 12 noon to Thursday, July 28, at 8 a.m. and Lodgepole
Campground from Sunday, August 7, at
12 noon to Thursday, August 11, at 8 a.m. Campers with reservations at Dorst Creek
and Lodgepole campgrounds are being provided several options by a customer service
team, including the opportunity to camp within Kings Canyon National Park at either
Azalea or Moraine campgrounds. (Both Azalea and Moraine campgrounds are in high
demand in the summertime and are not normally available by reservation.) In
addition, campers with reservations are being provided an option to cancel part or
all of their reservations with full refunds. Note: People who hope to obtain walk-in
campsites in Kings Canyon National Park at Moraine or Azalea campgrounds, as well
as Dorst Creek and/or Lodgepole campgrounds, during these days/times will be
referred to other campgrounds in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and in
the adjacent area. The National Park Service appreciates your patience, as this road
work is necessary for the safety of all park visitors.
