Thanks for the report! Great pictures and nice job on that brown; glad to see some open water after imagining all of my favorite targets still covered in ice through July.

Nice report and photos. The Green Creek drainage is really underrated in my estimation. It is a great scenic place that can be enjoyed without a huge amount of hiking. There are some decent sized fish to be had in that drainage, too, but the fish won't run as big as the place you hit at the end of the trip.

Thanks for the inspirational report and great pictures. We have visited the area many times since our honeymoon in 1992. We were thinking about a fall trip in Sept. I recognize the view.

There's a great loop to or from Green Lakes to Virginia Lakes (well it's not exactly a loop - you'd have to have a car at each end or hitch hike). I'd start at Virginia Lakes. The trail from Virginia Lakes up to or down from the Virginia/Green divide is full of incredible flowers... especially lilies.

Heh...glad to hear you didn't get fleeced there. ;)

I read somewhere that both gas stations in Bridgeport are owned by the same guy (sadly, it isn't Jeff Bailey), and added to the fact that there's nothing else within 20 miles or so, that's why they can get away with charging those prices (IIRC, at least $0.50/gallon more than Lee Vining).

By the way, what were the dates of your trip? Thinking about that area for next weekend...

Yea, pretty much a Monopoly then.

I was there the 23rd & 24th and the snow appeared to be melting pretty quickly. I'm going to be around the area again this week and will explore East if possible and report back.

Thanks for the info Dry. Love that area. I have a 3 day trip coming up in two weeks and am thinking of Green/West as an option. No fires at West is kind of a detractor, but I see the need. I'll PM you next week. I might go up Leavitt Meadows way instead, the guy Im going with has little East Side experience, and I know the majority of the area is free of snow. Now if only we could get that West Walker down a bit...ha ha.
