High Sierra Trail,,, snowbound!

Post by Trent »

Flew over the High Sierra / Muir Trail, looked at it from Sequoia's Crescent Meadow all the way to Mt. Whitney. Huge amounts of snow above Hamilton Lake in the Kaweah Gap, Kaweah Basin & Big Arroyo areas, also on the western side of Whitney & Crabtree Medows. All the high altitude lakes are still frozen over.

If you are going to hike this thing probably best to wait till mid to late August. And, with all the snow melt the streams and the Kern are going to have some "big water".

I'm supposed to be on parts of the HST in mid Aug. I can hardly wait. Entering Lamark Col around Aug 9 and exiting Shepherd Pass around Sept 6. I do want to cross Cartridge Pass and wander over that way for a few days. Its going to be beautiful.
