Need some suggestions pls...
Headed to region for 4 days. Looking to hike 10 or so miles to a lake/valley, free of snow, and spend a couple days there. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

When are you going?
I doubt it'll snow again in any meaningful way for a while. There's still a lot of snow above 7,000 feet, but that will change pretty dramatically in a couple weeks. I noticed a lot less snow up there today than there was a couple weeks ago.
What will matter more for the next few weeks is your degree of comfort with deep, swift, very cold creek crossings. We were stopped short today by just that problem. Water's too deep, too strong, and very cold - and the rocks are slicker than slick. Fortunately we were only dayhiking in the canyon.

Depending on when you go, I would recommend heading up to Island Lake in the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness. It is on the western side of the Sierra and I feel it has the best fishing out of the surrounding lakes, as well as a moderate approach. It's at 9800 feet so there will be snow for a little while longer.
