Thanks for all the kind comments!
Lostcoyote -- that side canyon sure is wonderful. I had to get moving to get back to my car in time, but it was awfully hard to leave.

The picture just after "the beast lies just ahead to the right" again shows that ancient Sierra surface that wasn't glaciated. Thats what I love. So many great plants and micro-gardens in that old earth. Has that same picture been posted another time?
I just love Shepherds Pass. God it makes me wanna be there (in the summer of course).

Thanks guys. JDunne -- I don't know, but I'm sure that "sliding board" angle of Russell is a very popular photography subject, so it's no surprise if it looks familiar.

It's such a treat seeing great pics from this area. I took 3 long trips into the upper Kern and stupid me, never took a camera. Fishing not withstanding this is my favorite area.

Mav, I tried to reply but my reply still shows in my Outbox rather than Sent, so not sure if it went or not. Navigating the PM options seems a bit chossy!

Ah, the back of Russell... yes, and the Pass just beyond. Well that ancient surface is something else, thats all I can say. And Shepherd crest area is one of my favorite places.
