Great TR and pictures Tom to a lake not frequently visited.
The Crazy Mule, and the Big Meadow down to Dog, Tallulah Lake areas are
really nice to.
Still planning to visit those pretty lakes at the mouth of Thompson, or was this
a shortened trip ?

Thanks!

I shortened the trip to just 4 days (bummed around Yosemite and the eastern Sierra for the rest of the week). Have to hit those Thompson Canyon lakes another time...

Great trip report! And I couldn't agree more about the idiocy of how the trails were constructed in the whole Benson Loop area. You're lucky you were off-trail for most of it!

Here are some of the flowers I saw along the way:

Image
Mountain Mint (Monardella odoratissima)

Image
Rock Fringe (Epilobium obcordatum)

Image
Tolmies Saxifrage (Saxifraga tolmiei)

Image
White Heather (Cassiope mertensiana)

Image
Elephant Heads (Pedicularis groenlandica)

Image
Lemmons Paintbrush (Castilleja lemmonii)

Image
Corn Lilies (Veratrum californicum)

Image
Pinedrops (Pterospora andromedea)

Image
Oregon Sidalcea (Sidalcea oregana ssp. spicata)

Image
And a mixed bouquet of lupine, paintbrush, and some yellow Asteraceae type deal.

Very nice, I like the Oregon Sidalcea.
The flower garden mix looks just like the ones on High Trail out of Agnew.
