Anyone been to Ten Lakes yet, this year?

Post by Joel H. »

I have a permit for a trip to Ten Lakes on Aug. 7th=9th. We're starting at Lukens Lake TH and finishing at May Lake TH. This is our first back-country trip in YNP. Can anyone give me a heads-up on probable trail conditions and stream crossings. I'm looking for any info to help me be more prepared.
Thank you in advance.

Not an ansewer to your subject, but a reminder to either not bring any extra food or to use the bear boxes at the trailhead. That particular TH can get visited by our furry friends! I'm kind of nervous about leaving stuff in the bear boxes at that time of the year because you are not allowed to lock them and that is peak season (implication is that there are some less than stellar citizens that also visit the parks at that time to prey on unsuspecting visitors).

On the other hand I left my campstove, ice chest full of beer and food and other stuff with odors in the bear boxes there last year in late may and returned to find everything in good order. Of course after dutifully putting all that stuff in the bear box when I returned to my car parked at the White Wolf cutoff I discovered I left a banana on the dashboard. It remained untouched. Just proves sometimes it is better to be lucky than good!
