Food Storage on Rae Lakes Loop

I'm doing the Rae Lakes Loop later this month with a group I regularly hike with. Mainly doing this loop for one reason, it's one of a few "popular" hikes I've never done. Anyways, I'm curious about food storage options. I checked the bear box map and it looks like there are several along the loop. I'm assuming we can manage this trip without bear cans. Is that a wrong assumption? Thanks.

Despite the presence of Bear Boxes, approved canisters are required anywhere along the Rae Lakes Loop.

Thanks. Not sure I understand why that is, but I will make the necessary arrangements.

Only boxes at Vidette Meadow area, Upper Paradise CG, Rae Lakes and the one lake by the Ranger cabin that I remember seeing. If you don't hit those areas, you need approved canisters. Be careful at Upper Paradise CG boxes, mice ruined a couple young fellas new Platys they had in the boxes.
