Ok, it's only $30/day, and you have to do some work. But it's in the backcountry! Here's the deal:
[web_site]Friends of the Inyo[/web_site] is helping the Inyo National Forest with wilderness campsite inventory later this summer. So we're looking for dedicated hikers to attend a training and take on routes in the Golden Trout, South Sierra, Hoover, Inyo and Boundary Peak Wilderness areas.
The FREE training happens July 24-26 in the Golden Trout Wilderness, and includes meals. Then you'll get a survey route (you determine the length) and get to work!
This is all possible thanks to a grant Friends of the Inyo receives from the National Forest Foundation.
If you're interested, please send me a message or email explore@friendsoftheinyo.org.
FOI also has room in some upcoming wilderness stewardship trips and is leading tons of dayhikes--check the website!
