Hi Calvin,
I just glanced at your photos and was happy to see some snow/ice in the upper reaches. My wife & I usually try to get out in mid-to late June, but were delayed this year and were worried that the white stuff would mostly be gone (judging from the webcams, it's really only closer to 11K that one runs into snow, though you obviously encountered it on the way to Precipice). Anyway, sounds like we'll hit plenty of bugs........but wildflowers as compensation.
Thanks for the shots!
Cameron

Hi Calvin

Thanks for the pic's. To bad you didn't make it to Kaweah Gap, I would
loved to have seen the Kaweah's and 9 Lake Basin from there this time
of the year.

I like the blanket of ferns, and that bear! The pink/yellow flowers are mustang clover. I took the same photo when I was there, its the only place I've seen those. Pretty area!

Thanks SnowNymph for identifying the flowers. I looked all over the internet to find out what they were to no avail. There were a lot of flowers blooming, even at the 10,000 foot level.

I'm spending too much time identifying flowers. The only site I know of is http://calphotos.berkeley.edu// , but you have to know the name to type in to see if its right. Other than that, I have about 5 books that I look at with flowers sorted by color. Takes a lot of time (which I don't have), so I just label "need ID" and hope someone can help.

But that Mustang Clover is one of my favorites! :D
