Food resupply at Mt. Whitney portal?

Post by Runnergirl »

I'll be hiking the JMT from Yosemite to Mt. Whitney, going down to Whitney portal, then back up Mt. Whitney so I can take the High Sierra Trail out to Sequoia nat'l park. I won't have time to get out to the post offices in Bishop or Independence, so was hoping to resupply at the Whitney portal store. Does it carry grocery items adequate for another 5 days on the trail, or just basic snack foods?

The Portal is not a store for a decent re-supply…last minute items mostly…maybe enough pickins for a day or two, but not enough for a week’s provisions with any variety.
You can, however, use it as a pre-sent cache food drop...address of the Portal -
