Anyone tell me the distance?

From Cottonwood lakes to Cirque peak or Mt Langley. I may perhaps be able to do so around next monday so that is a possible dayhike or even possibly overnight backpack. I will be leaving around 6pm and getting there around 10.5. I was wondering also how far it is to the very first cottonwood lakes. Maybe I could hike in the night till the lakes and camp there for an early start.

Its been a few years since I've done it, but I think 3rd Lake is just under 6 mi, and Cirque is about 4 miles from there. Lewis just did it and said 20 miles r/t for Langley

NGMaps show 6m and 3501'ele gain from 3rd lake to Langley.

I was just there last weekend for a dayhike up Cirque- On the New Army Pass trail it is about 5 miles to the first Cottonwood lakes, and almost another 4 miles to the top of New Army Pass and about 1 1/2 miles from there to the summit of Cirque peak.
You can also use the good unmarked trail up the South Fork to the lowest South Fork lake which is about 4 miles from the trailhead to the lake and then you can gain the main trail from there, it makes for a nice loop. And if you are up for a steep class 2 grind and you can use this route to get to Cirque Lake and then up that cirque to the south ridge of Cirque peak-probably the shortest distance to the summit of Cirque of all.

First night above and near Lake Three. Old Army is out of Lake 4.
Go up OLD Army Pass if Langley.

to save 500 ft altitude gain.
You can day hike Langly-- its a pretty full day -- and return to previous night's camp. If you have enough in you to continue down, its about 2+ hours down. Problem is, this time of year you don't have a lot of daylight.

Not sure of the distance, but we camped at Long Lake (past Cottonwood) went up New Army Pass, then up Cirque Peak, the down to the west side to lower Soldier Lake. From New Army to Cirque it seemed longer than it looks. Long day, pretty dry, carried 7 quarts for 2 people and was glad when we finally hit water on the west side. Our first day in, getting to Long Lake, there was a party that day-hiked Langley. They said it took 12+ hours.
