No campfires in Inyo NF

Post by Mike McGuire »

Got a wilderness permit at Mammoth last week for a trip over Duck Pass down Fish Creek. The ranger said and wrote on permit "no fires at any elevation", thus only gas stoves allowed. This is due to very dry high fire hazard conditions. Don't know whether this is being imposed elsewhere--the parks or other NF's.

They closed the woods where I live, Plumas NF a couple weeks ago to wood cutting. Loggers can work until 1:00PM. I just hope the people from the city pay attention and don't have campfires even if it is a family tradition.
Piece of cake.
