If you've been searching for the best source of information and stimulating discussion related to Spring/Summer/Fall backpacking, hiking and camping in the Sierra Nevada...look no further!
Apparently they hold back 20% of the permits for daily permits where you make it on day 1, for entry two days later.
But it's not clear to me :
(editing here for clarity)

"Beginning at 7 am Pacific time two days ahead of the day-use reservation date, the remaining 20% of day-use reservations will be available. For example, on July 1 at 7 am, day-use reservations for July 3 arrival will be available."
Ok, so at 7am.
But where ? I didn't see them on recreation.gov, even at 6:45am, only the month-ahead ones.
So at the park entrance ?
And when ?
Every 1st and only the 1st ?
Every day ?
It's just not clear.
Has anyone figured it out ?
= = = = = =
EDIT : So far what's been reported back :
Phil/Wildhiker on pg 2, wildhiker » Wed Aug 12, 2020 11:21 pm says :
There are no drive in permits/tickets being offered at the entrance
Others have reported that the drive-in tickets are indeed available on recreation.gov, but they go fast, at 7am, every day

That's a bit amusing . . . you just posted again a link to the page I already provided, and asked clarification for.
My questions remain, as it's not clear.
Does anyone know ?
It shows the same information/page content though.
Different url, same page (with same confusing wording) - just compare the two pages.

You get them at the recreation.gov site you listed: https://www.recreation.gov/ticket/facility/300015. I've never tried to wait until 7 am pst to see if the options change. You may have to refresh the page at 7:01. Are you using the app or the website?
If technology isn't your thing, I'd recommend getting up early and enter outside of the entrance gate operating hours.

They disappear within about a minute, suffering from bots/over-demand/permit hoarding like every other stupid permit in the Sierra. You're probably just late.

Also, I have a blog no one reads. Please do not click here.
@chulavista
Haha. I work in IT actually, so there's no problem there.
Btw, your're reposting a link I've already posted.
Yes, I've been on that page : on the website and not on my phone.
I never saw a link or entry or choice specifically for a daily ticket.
Perhaps I'll dbl check.
Are you saying you got a daily ticket on that site, and not one of the month-ahead ones ?

Hmm, I checked at 6:45am and they're not there.
But you're saying they show up right at 7am, and then are available (for a second or so) ?
I ask because I'm used to these sites actually displaying what's going to be available, even though you can't go for them yet.
Assuming that's true, then is that every day for the daily permits ?
