Awesome pictures. The one of Iron Lake is particularly stunning.

Wonderful scenes, maverick!

Makes me recall the moment I first saw the North Fork Canyon from Lake Catherine, and the wonder of this extremely romote section of the Sierra. Even from that limited viewpoint, the magnificence of this area was apparent. You've captured it extremely well. Must've been a great trip, wildflowers or not.

Thanks MountainMinstrel and Timberline.
Yes it was a great trip, especially Iron Creek and Iron Mountain.
The eastern side has much more lakes and much more people,
but the views from Iron Lake are unmatchable IMO.
Because of its remoteness and that everyone wanting to go into
Yosemite via one of the passes, it sees very little useage.

Man, I don't remember it being that nice when Pooch and I visited 5-6 years ago. We went clockwise from Rush Creek, close to Devils Postpile, Kings Canyon, Snow Creek, or was it Snow Canyon and Kings Creek, then Sheep Corral ?, Iron Creek and Hemlock Crossing, around Catherine and down to Thousand Island again then out. Had some snow that pushed us out a day early on our trip in mid Oct. Nice creek photos, I wanted to go up to Iron Lake then down but from some descriptions I had read, camping would not be too great at some of the lakes in that area. We stayed at Fern Lake instead or was that the second trip we did that? I guess the first trip we did the loop up the Granite Staircase, Hemlock Crossing etc. Judging by the weeds along the trail, not many people go that way. Nice photos, I didn't dally the last day out as it was storming in Yosemite and finally snowed on us a little. Fourteen mile day that last day, from Iron Creek to the TH at Silver Lake.
