trail mileage question

Post by jaclynspradling » Sat May 04, 2019 12:02 am

We will be in Mammoth after Labor Day and can't wait to see our favorite places there. I was trying to figure out how far it would be to hike the Lake George to Emerald Lake trail and then up to Sky Meadows. I know the distance from Coldwater to Sky and from Lake George to Emerald, but would like to do it in one hike. Not getting any younger though!

Hello jaclynspradling. Welcome to HST.

After reading your post, I googled emerald lake to sky meadows. Of all the results I got, the one that looked most promising was ... ows-trail/

While there is no mileage given for the trail between Emerald Lake and Sky Meadows, as I clicked on the arrows on the pictures, I saw a photo of a trail sign which showed that it’s approximately one mile. Since you know the distance from Lake George to Emerald Lake, just add one mile, and there is your one way mileage from Lake George to Sky Meadows. Double that number and you have your round trip distance. Enjoy!

On the above map, the red dotted squares are one mile on a side so guestimate.
