Well, we had a great time on this hike--thanks everyone for your help. We drove up from Fresno and hit the trail at about 8:30. Found a little bit of snow on the ground in the north forested areas, but only a bit. Beautiful weather, and the views were even better than I expected. Between the four of us there was only one skeeter bite (me of course) and none of us used deet. The only thing I wish I would have done differently is do an out and back rather than looping down to the Yosemite Falls trail and back out. The climb from that junction (at Lehamite Creek) to the junction back with the North Dome trail was stupid steep. We all made it OK but we are paying for it today To top it off it is a rather boring section with nothing much to look at (I thought it would be closer to the creek). Despite that my wife (Tina) had an awesome time, and will be going out with me again We were on trail for 9 hours or so which is a very slow pace, but It was our first outing of the season and we took a bunch of pictures. We still got back to Tuolumme Grove before the store closed for a nice cold beverage and a leg stretch, plus a bear out in the meadow.

Yes the view of HD is truly awesome. There was one climber that we saw on HD with the binoculars, but I don't have a very good camera. My sisters camera is high enough pixels that she may get a usable photo of them. I will have to see.maverick wrote:Looks like a fun trip with a bear to top it off!
I really like the view you get from ND of HD, its a different perspective
that not many people see.
Sometimes you luck out and see climbers going up HD which makes
for some cool shots if you have a telephoto lens handy.

It may just have been that it was our first hike of the season, but that was worse that 4 miles trail or Chilnualna Falls. Or it could have been the fact that I was using so much breath apologizing for my decision to take that route back. :retard:Hikin Mike wrote:I like the "Stupid Steep" part! That was one of my favorite hikes...of course there all my favorites! Glad you had a good day!
