Post by DAVELA »

Never seen so little snow in the owens valley in winter.Anyway up the sherwin grade mountains with snow appeared.Especially towards mammoth etc.
Anyway, decided on hiking up mcgee creek. It was beautiful.Clear trail, snow covered peaks and cool temps.Better than late spring hiking.A freak winter. The road was clear and i parked at the trailhrad.Ive snowshoed up that road cuz its always been covered from hilton lakes rd.

A freak winter.
Thanks for the TR.
Forecast calls for sunny days with higher than normal temps for this time of year all the way thru next Wed. :(

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

How high up the trail did you get? I've been contemplating heading up to Owen's Valley for some winter dayhikes in the eastern sierra to give some benefit to this horrible winter. Seems like the clear trails only last a few miles though.
