Tioga Pass Opening

Post by mountainLight »

Just noticed that they have the annual Tioga pass plow update up on the Yosemite website. Apparently it is already plowed, they are just working on the road. Thought I would post it for those interested.

Cool! I heard from a local that he had heard that some people were thinking it may open tomorrow, but with the precipitation that just fell, the road will need to be plowed again. See the following link for the Tioga Pass webcam. It shouldn't take too long to plow that, though.

One of the locals in Mammoth took a road biking tour over the pass and through the Meadows. He posted some shots over at SP

Really neat, so little snow this year, especially when compared to last year.

Thanks for the info mlight and for the link to the photos Eric. Hope to head up this weekend toward Saddlebag, hopefully it'll be open by then so I don't have to take the long way around through sonora.

trailblaizer - Sonora pass is closed. It opened briefly but then closed again due to a construction project. From what I know it will not be open this weekend but rather they hope to re-open by the 9th.

Thanks so much Flip. I checked this am and found that out...kind of kills my plans for the weekend, and I don't see tioga opening before I wanted to leave either :crybaby: I don't plan on making that long drive north again. Now, backpack and truck is packed and I've got a few days, just don't know where to go :dontknow
