West shore of Tahoe

Does anybody have any idea what the accessibility of the trails on the west side of Tahoe is like? I could see from Snow Valley Peak that there is quite a bit of snow up high, but I'm wondering how far I can get before the going gets too tough. I'm thinking it may be too early. I sure miss living in Independence at times like these!
