What's your pick?

Post by maverick »

If you could pick only one lake, peak, river, or any other landmark, that represents the beauty of each of these specific areas listed below, what would it be? What comes first to your mind, when each of these sections are read?
Desolation Wilderness:
Emigrant Wilderness:
Yosemite (Valley):
Yosemite (outside of the Valley):
Hoover Wilderness:
Ansel Adams Wilderness:
John Muir Wilderness Central: Area south of Mammoth (Duck Lake) to the top of Kings Canyon
JMW West: Area west of Kings Canyon, from the Ward Mountains down Rogers Ridge near Spanish Lakes
JMW East: Area East of Kings Canyon, from Upper Golden Trout Lake down to Cottonwood Lakes
Kings Canyon NP:
Sequoia NP:

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Well, my answers have to reflect my limited exposure, but here are my favorite spots I have seen So Far. I'm also not too sure of the designations of the three JMWs, so I guessed what was meant.

This is going to be sort of top-of-the-head favorites, because there are just too many amazing places and I could spend hours fruitlessly trying to decide which ones are really my favorites...

Desolation Wilderness: 40 years since I backpacked here, but I remember really liking Dick's Lake.
Emigrant Wilderness: Ridge Lake
Yosemite (Valley): Sierra Point
Yosemite (outside of the Valley): Either Red Devil Lake or Rock Island Lake
Hoover Wilderness: Little Slide Canyon
Ansel Adams Wilderness: Bench Canyon
John Muir Wilderness Central: Pioneer Basin
JMW West: Blackcap Basin
JMW East: Kearsarge Pass
Kings Canyon NP: Kid Lakes
Sequoia NP: Sawtooth Peak
