Where are you picking up the permit? You could ask to go in on Friday upon pickup if there is room. Just saying, charm at the desk works sometimes. Your son can smile at them alot and look forlorn. They do have history on prior permits as I've seen when they used a really old email address on my last permit request. The more you have, the more they trust you.

I'll pick up my permit in Bishop. I've been there a couple times including last weekend. Maybe we will just try our luck
