Death Valley?

Kibbie Ridge will be snow free by Memorial Day this year I think, but not always. I have been there countless times, mainly early season. It's strange: early season the whole area will be dry except high forested Kibbie Ridge. One year I was able to bypass it by using a cross-country route from Kibbie Lake. Beyond the ridge it is usually pretty dry, though the water is high.

The southern Sierra will be completely dry by M-Day: I have done numerous backpacks into Kern Canyon, Kern Lakes and into SEKI in mid May even in the wettest years.

Thanks for ths suggestions. Time to start looking at my maps.

Other ideas I have for Memorial Day (I don't mind some snow as long as it's only partial coverage and I don't need snowshoes):

Mineral King for Memorial Day. Maybe the Franklin Pass/Farewell Gap area.

Up Baxter Pass over on the east side.
