Why would a hiker not just have mail sent to the Cedar Grove Post Office for general delivery? Am I missing something?

I'm 8 days away from starting the PCT (nobo) and I find it quite curious that none of the standard guides mention Cedar Grove at all.

To me the hike to Cedar grove seems like it would be much more enjoyable than the hike down to Lone Pine or Independance.

Cheers

I don't think there is a Post Office down in Cedar Grove.

Cedar Grove isn't a town. It's a facility in a national park. No post office.

Why does Google Maps say there is a post office in Cedar Grove?

Or Wisconson, or North Carolina, or Indiana. Not California.

It's definitely CA, Kings Canyon NP. Upon going into street view however, there's nothing but a bunch of trees where this supposed post office is.

USPS shows nothing there.
If you don't know where you're going, then any path will get you there.

Relying on googlemaps is a game -- I once drove in circles in a neighborhood for twenty minutes. Google tried to get me to use a street that did not exist.

Those "roads" on the map are loops in campgrounds. No town there.
