We just got back from our trip, Sept. 10-12. We ended up going up to the Mosquito Lakes basin from Mineral King -- which is of course Sequoia, not Kings Canyon as I put in my subject line. It was about 4.5 miles up to Mosquito Lake #2 where we camped for 2 nights. On the day in between we hiked to the upper lakes and fished at Mosquito Lake #5, where we caught a bunch of smaller brookies. The cross-country hiking in this basin was great and the scenery was amazing. And no mosquitoes at all. At the end we stopped at the Silver City Resort for a very nice $5 shower, which I recommend for anyone coming out of Mineral King!
