High Sierra -> Elizabeth Pass -> Colby Pass loop

Hi All,

I've enjoyed reading this thread. I tried the loop last June (2016) clockwise. Little trouble and thoroughly enjoyable until I got to Colby Pass. Keep in mind I was attempting to cross north to south (from Colby Lake). I got high on the pass and just completely lost the trail. I looked for a couple hours and nothing. Ended up turning back. Never mind the gorgeous return trip esp from Colby Lake down into Cloud Canyon. And never mind that my trail instincts were telling me that Colby Pass could not possibly cross at the highest point of an arrowhead-shaped peak directly south of the Lake. (Evidently, that is where the pass is, I now have to believe). My question for the group is any tips on how to find the pass going southbound AND is it easier to find going the other way (counterclockwise from the south).
