Upper Kern basin from Forester pass

I'm wondering if anyone has crossed the saddle north of Caltech peak, going from below Forester directly into Kern basin.
There is a 2013 thread on this here on HST, but back then it did not yield any positive reply. Has the situation changed? Any new info?
Map and a few pictures show that most of the saddle's west side is a cliff, but could be a chute on its far north end - it's not clear.
We'll be on a backpacking trip, experienced xc hikers who have been over many off-trail passes in the sierra. Still, like to keep it to class 2 or 2-3 with a pack.
