North Lake to McGee Creek vis SHR

Post by JWreno »

Looking forward to a 9 day adventure starting next weekend. Have entry permit reservation for Piute pass and plan on following Sierra High route to Tully Lake and then back oner McGee pass to the McGee creek campground. Will be going with wife and adult son. Haven't done any of the SHR since 2004. It should be fun avoiding the JMT crowds for a change.

I am hoping that the smoke situation allows us to enjoy the high altitude views. There are plenty of lakes so I am not worried about water. This will be a low daily mileage trip to allow us the extra time for route finding and the possibility of exploring. I hope the bugs are not much of a problem at these elevations. The last time we spend multiple days off trail was in Emigrant Wilderness trying to navigate the granite ramps in the smoke for the huge fire a few years ago.
