Interesting. I see Margaret Lakes had fire restrictions above 9600 feet. I'm looking at going there and not having a fire wouldn't be the end of the world but it makes the trip when you're in the Sierras, especially with mosquitoes. We were targeting Frog Lake as a campsite (for this summer) and it looks to be on that PDF you included. Anyone know if these fire restrictions are permanent/standard or were just on for last year?

Yes, the Forest Service has campfire restrictions on all of the lakes in the area. Here is the info from my Wilderness permit.

I'm unsure as this was my first trip into the area. Here's the number for the Ranger Station where I pulled my permit.

High Sierra Ranger District
29688 Auberry Road
Prather, CA 93651
(559) 855-5355

Agreed, we left them behind quickly once we left the established trail. Thank goodness!

My pleasure. The one thing this forum needs is more trip reports. I never tire of them even if they are about areas previously covered.
