Hi Doyle,

I really enjoyed your pictures and story of your Deadman Cyn. loop hiking trip.

I'm considering a similar trip and was looking for some advice.

I'm considering either Ranger/Beville Lake or Roaring River as a destination for a backpacking trip in late June/early July.

I was wondering which destination would be less populated with other campers? I camped at Bearpaw Meadow once, and it was like a "tent city". I know both of these destinations are a little more remote, but I'd like as much solitude as possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Saw this a little late, but yeah, Bearpaw, being right on the High Sierra Trail and the junction of four trail; it do get busy there.

These are a whole different matter, in particular in early season. I have been to all these places in all seasons but winter, but in "late June/early July" you will see few people. If you go south up the small draw from Beville you will come to two small pretty lakes and NObody will be there for sure.
Another place for solitude will be Lost Lake, unless a packer happens to be there (rare).
Roaring River may have a few people (there is a RS), but there is plenty of places within 1/4 mile where you will be alone by a river with excellent camping, no problem.
