Does anyone have a recent trail report for the Treasure Lakes Area. I have a permit for this upcoming memorial weekend, but having done a bit of limited research online (not finding much at all) I am a bit nervous on what the area will entail as far as trail snow is concerned.

You might also want to keep in mind that the weather for this coming weekend looks like rain in the Sierra, and snow at the higher elevations...

I know we don't have nearly the snow pack of 2011. It sure does feel similar with snow coming down almost all the way to june!

You can just deal with the snow. Even when there are 2-3 feet drifts, you will find small dry spots to set up a tent. You will be quite close to the trailhead, so if needed, you can just walk out if things get bad. Prepare for snow and enjoy it!

I did that exact trip in 2009 in mid June. We were the first to get up there from snow covering the final ascent to treasures. There was a lot of snow and patches of dry dirt to camp on. The wind is very strong you'll need to find camp sites that shield you. I experienced the most powerful storm of my life there. It came during the after noon and was gone by next morning. Wind howls were deafening and the thunder and lighting insane. It rained, hailed, and snowed. At night we saw lightening and counted the seconds to thunder. I remember it being in the far distance and at some time of the night i decided to start counting as it came closer. Till this day, I can remember counting from about 30 sec to 20 to 10 to 5,4,3,2,1 over who knows how long, but when it was close it came fast and hard. Then all of a sudden the counting would go longer and just like that it passed us by. Fishing is great, small golden hybrids. Water was delicious. You need to call Parchers resort and ask if anyone has gone to Treasures this season. They can let you know about the snow and difficulty.
