I would love to spend a few days above Hetch Hetchy early this year, as soon as conditions allow. Ive never been to that area and with the lower elevation i assume an earlier trip could be possible.

Anybody wanna venture a guess how soon one could hike to Vernon/Eleanor in regular footwear? I dont mind a little snow as long as the trails not completely covered in the slushy stuff.

Over the years we've done quite a few trips in the spring. This year (and last) we did Death Valley backpacking trips. Other trips have been to Hite Cove on the Merced, Rancheria Falls and Hetch-hetchy in Yosemite, and Henry Coe State Park.

And last year, we did a hike from Bridalveil Campground to Grouse Lake in Yosemite---but that was NOT a normal year. We did not see any snow below 8500 feet...Like I said. LAST year.
