Alpine Col vs Keyhole

Post by Keegan »

Great write up, thanks everyone! Can anyone speak to Alpine Col vs. The Keyhole (the pass just to the east, accessed from the North via Lost Lakes)?

I'd be interested to hear how it stacks up in terms of difficulty. I know it is listed on the map (http://www.highsierratopix.com/high-sierra-map/map.php) as class 3, which I would assume is harder than Alpine Col, but I'd love to hear from someone who has done both if one is a clear choice over the other.

I had planned to try The Keyhole, but now am having second thoughts.

thanks!

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

That first link is the same info on this page above, but I hadn't found the second one - thank you! That's good info and helps a lot. Next time I'll do a deeper search of existing material before asking.
