Am guessing this was the storm on the second weekend this October. She obviously was not an Internet web savvy weather person because that storm was forecast days before. The TRT is a multi day effort that anyone familiar with October weather would not attempt unless fair forecasts were unusually strong. And then still one would have brought a 4-season tent and definitely not a "hammock". Without the phone to call SAR she might well have not made it out.

She put her only warm coat on the dog because it was getting cold and the dog apparently ran around at some point so she lost the coat leaving just a thin shell. She never mentioned the rest of her clothing maybe because it would be criticized as being inadequate? She does mention whenever she got out of the sleeping bag it was too cold. Long pants? Long underwear? Rain pants? Or just hiking in October with the favorite of so many hikers...shorts? Would hope police get to the bottom of the many car break ins now at Spooner Summit. Is it really trail people as the article noted or low lifes driving up at night from SLT or Reno?

Think positive!

With that kind of bad planning and poor judgment, this person has the potential for a great career in politics. :)

Peace.

I think not. She admitted her mistakes! Also apparently learned from them.

She does seem to have learned a lot. She is fortunate to have another chance. What's most tragic is those who survive, but don't have the sense to take any lessons from the mistakes they made.
