Cedar Grove

Post by chulavista »

I see on the SEKI NPS website that Cedar Grove is closed for the year. Does anyone know if the campgrounds in the area were torched by the fire? Thinking about planning an East Lake/Brewer trip out of Roads End next year.

Looking at the maps on Inciweb, it appears they were able to protect Cedar Grove, but the fire line came right down to it. The view across the river will be sad, tho.

It's bad enough there that Mel (the seasonal ranger who's been there for a long time) has decided to retire.

I think it will be long while before the areas west of and across the river from the campgrounds feel much like the woods but the backcountry out of Roads End seems to have been untouched.
