Avoiding the crowds on Labor Day weekend?

I've got a 4-day weekend starting Friday and I'd like to fit in a 3-night trip, but I'm guessing that I'm one of about a million people thinking the same thing!

Was thinking of going into Ionian Basin via Florence Lake, or Lakes Basin via Taboose Pass. Maybe something in N. Yosemite. The smoke looks to be somewhat SW of that area.

Wondering if anyone had some thoughts on where I might be able to see some cool stuff while avoiding crowds and too many permit hassles.

Northern Yosemite out of Twin Lakes, low crowds, low smoke, if any, and getting a permit will be easier.

PS Smoke from the satellite views do not look good from SEKI up to the Mammoth area, looks pretty good around Whitney and south of it, maybe Mineral King would be a good idea too, as long as the wind don't shift.
