Trip Report LLV 8-26-29

Post by bluefintu »

I had the opportunity to take my three kids out and other new backpackers. My group turned out to be 11 people, but, I reserved a permit months ago for 12 hikers. LLV is such an easy hike but , we had to deal with some altitude issues. The kids endured it and was fine the next day. We ended up a Chickenfoot lake and camped out and caught some very little fish. The smoke and ash was not so bad where we were, but, we had no blue skies till we walked out.

We packed in 24 hot dog buns and 32 Natthon hot dogs and had 3 left that someone ate it the next morning. When it comes down to taking kids, I carry some crazy weight, due to extra food.(candy, red vine, jolly ranchers, etc....) Oh, also, fishing tackle, 5 poles and reels and plus the fishing tackle, extra line,(used that due to too many tangles) all spools were new and that last half a day due to inexperience. I did have a short period of time to take my raft out one day to relax and fish. It turned out to be a very enjoyable trip for everyone.
