Way to go on the PB gold! That fish is a beaut. It's dinner companion is no slouch either!

Looking at your picture, I recognized where you caught em. Off to the left of your neck is a orangish square shaped rock. Recall peeing on that rock back in the 90s. Amazing how long the stain's lasted! Mine was only 16 inches though but also caught 14 and 13 inchers. After cleaning, a couple of marmots carried off the heads and our group had a good laugh. The kind of lake most people just walk right by on the way to lakes they think are better because of public rumors.

A hyperbolic trip report, with no hyperbole intended.

The first paragraph grabbed me. Last night, I returned from 10 days in Denali and that paragraph and the rest of your report is the first thing that reconnected me to that essential essence of being in the wild. Thanks.
I don’t need a goal destination. I need a destination that meets my goals.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Nice. Remote enough to reduce fishing pressure and allow some growth. I'm planning on going in the general vicinity via the standard Feather pass, but the detour might be a little too much. It seems like you really need to come down from Gemini to be put in any kind of position, otherwise who wants to go up there?

Going over Seven Gables Pass and into the West Pinnacles Creek drainage and around to the "sidewalk" (not sure we were on the sidewalk but it seems to fit your description) before dropping down to the Piute Pass Trail was one of my favorite trips. We didn't go up that chute, though we looked at it a long time. It looked too rough. We went straight up a steep green patch to the right of the chute and topped out fairly high above the top of the chute route. We then hiked the shoulder of Gemini before dropping to the lakes. Thanks for the beautiful photos and the reminder of how isolated and special that area is.
