Hey there,

We did a short, easy trip over the weekend to Onion Valley. This was more of a "testing the water" trip for my dad, as he hasn't been backpacking for many years. We left San Diego at 9PM Friday night, arrived at the trailhead at 3AM and headed out for some pristine early morning hiking. Arrived at Matlock lake at 6AM. Did some day hiking to Bench Lake with the pup, then headed out early Sunday morning.

Virtually no mosquitos. Mild weather. Hardly any snow on the trail at 10000 ft. I realize this is hardly a trip report. :retard:

Thanks! She's 9 months. She was great out there, first overnight trip. She did develop a limp on the way down which was discouraging, as we plan on bringing her with us up the Rush Creek Trail to TIL in 2 and a half weeks.

Make sure you allow her to to heal, staying within her comfort level, otherwise it can turn into something chronic or worse.

Cute dog! That limp is discouraging. Is she carrying a pack? It looks like she is. You might want to wait a few more months before trying to have her carry any weight.
