High Sierra Topix

Anyone have suggestions for a good place to take young kids car camping right now?

Here are some of the criteria:

- not too long of a drive from LA

- near water

- fishing is a must

- good hiking, preferably shorter hikes that have beautiful scenery

- pleasant temperature range

Areas under consideration are Kernville, Alabama Hills, Kennedy Meadows, but very open to suggestions. Thanks!

If fishing is a must, it's a lake you want. Are there campgrounds open at Lake Isabella?

The Kern River up to the Johnsondale Bridge is also open all year.
