Toying with idea of goin up Clouds Rest either last weekend of March or beginning of April. Called the Yosemite ranger station, they said snow level around there is around 8000 feet. Ill be going up from Yosemite Valley so im guessing the southern slopes snow level might be higher than that. Anyone been down in the Valley recently? Would appreciate some first hand accounts!

I know it's not the right forum to ask but instead of cluttering things up with another new topic:

How's the Fishing on the Merced around little yosemite valley?? If I remember right it's not regulated to the end of April- first of November trout season I think. Figure I'm gonna have some downtime so instead of just drinking I'll do some fly fishing and drinking.

It's not regulated until April? It's not fishable until April.

"All other streams except those listed by name in the Special Regulations. Open season is Last Saturday in April through Nov 15."

AND THEN there was that yokel who wanted to take his kids out in winter, with a net, to Bridalveil Creek, and let them net trout...

I was about to call DFG and CPS!

As for Clouds Rest - friends were already up there this year, hiked from Happy Isles. Not sure if Wednesday's clouds dropped anything, or if Sunday's minor storm will.

Whoops. Good thing I asked.

To clarify: When I say regulated I meant legal to fish or not

EDIT - I was mistaken with the LOWER Merced River around El Portal which is catch and release all year round

It did snow some last night, but that will melt fast. Here's a video from atop Clods Rest Saturday:
