I broke a tent pole in a sandstorm near Stovepipe Wells once - it's pretty bad being near the sand dunes when the winds pick up.

Uh... driving my car off the road, rolling over and ending upside down in a ditch. Did that in '87, a few days after my birthday and a week before I was fired from my job. Other than that, it was a great trip!

I can remember up on Irvine with a friend - I watched him step off a rock and sink in snow to his waist - being the smart guy that I was I picked a diffferent place to step off. Poof - I sank up to my neck - the only help my friend could offer was to break out his camera

time to move these stories to their own new thread I think
