Up Soda Creek toward Amphitheater Lk-Mineral King route ques

Post by richapple »

The one time I was at the base of the main switchbacks heading down and north from Little Claire Lake was mid-October, 1981, and everything was covered with snow. (A good story to tell later!)

Anyone know if there is a negotiable route up Soda Creek toward Amphitheater Lake? Thinking lake 10479 might be a good campsite option then a day-hike up to Amphitheater Lake. Online I only find reference to that smaller lake by climbers on their way to various peeks in the area.

Thanks,
Rich

PS - Some Trip/Route Advice qualifications/info about us
Level of backpacking experience: Level 4- Comfortable with trail and/or x-country travel
Terrain comfortable/uncomfortable with: Usually like to keep it at Class 1 with maybe a bit of Class 2 (assume rock climber type ratings), but we're not fans of long talus crossings. (For this trip note we're not doing any of the high x-country passes, and not even Columbine/Sawtooth, which we have done, and is spectacular).
