Chimney Pass?

I'm curious about Chimney Pass as an alternative to Cirque Pass to access the Glacier Creek drainage from the JMT. I've read the thread on "Cirque vs. Chimney," and all the comments are regarding Cirque Pass-maybe that says it all! But Secor makes Chimney sound more appealing than Cirque for those of us looking to avoid Class 3 cliff-scrambles and don't mind facing an extra 300' of Class 2 elevation gain. Does anyone have any first-hand experience or advice to share regarding Chimney?

Cirque Pass from the JMT (at the lower of the two Palisades Lakes) is the preferred route. It is a fun route finding challenge, but moderate class 2 unless you choose the wrong route. On the way up, take the path of least resistance to the tarns just below the top of the pass, then follow easy slabs and ramps to the pass.

For me, the more difficult section of Cirque Pass was the lower section, and my indifferently picked route was not more than class 3 for a short pitch. If you become "blocked" you could turn around and give Chimney a try without too much lost time. I haven't done Chimney so I can't say anything about it.
