I would like to be able to leave this information with my itinerary when I go on a trip. Does anyone know of a good resource that lists the SAR contact number for each area of the Sierra... basically the one you would call to initiate a SAR.

Thanks. I was looking for the SEKI number over the weekend. They don't make it obvious to find it.

Other numbers to have are Madera, Mariposa and Fresno County sheriff dispatchs, for when you are hiking in Sierra National Forest outside the parks.

You only need to call one - the various jurisdictions are notified by the first one based on your stated itinerary. One search we had rangers from two parks and representatives from three counties.

You can always call the NPS, NFS office you plan to pick up your permit at, or county sheriff's office that your starting trailhead permit is for and ask them. They actually really appreciate these types of calls and will give you the absolute correct number to give to your loved ones.

Perhaps this thread should be among the stickies at the top? Maybe with the Reconn Form?

To clarify. For quickest response (in the Sierra) call park dispatch when in the parks, appropriate County Sheriff when outside the parks.

Good idea. I always leave my itinerary with a few friends but never thought about doing this.
