TR: South Desolation Wilderness

Post by RaiderFanMan »

Hiked into S.Deso 6/22 via Pyramid Creek and rock scramble up Horsetail Falls to Avalanche Lake, on to Ropi Lake, and over to Lake of the Woods. Summitted Ralston Peak and then exited down Ralston. Encountered a little snow around Lake of the Woods and all other lakes clear with no ice. Knats and mosquitoes are out in force around Lake of the Woods.

Thank you for the TR and pictures RaiderFanMan, should be useful info for fellow
members who are planning to visit that area.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Silver and Black Fan, did you happen to try any fishing along your route?
Since my fishing (etc.) website is still down, you can be distracted by geology stuff at: http://www.fresnostate.edu/csm/ees/facu ... ayshi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Giantbrookie: No fishing but will be back up in the area over 4th of Jul weekend for 3 days with fishing pole in hand. Only did a day hike with a hiking group so had to keep moving unfortunately.
