Due to Rim Fire closure in Stanislaus National Forest, there is no dispersed camping near highway 120 just west from Yosemite. Smaller side roads are closed. All along main roads there are signs prohibiting entry to forest.
[Edited to remove specifics. Some prefer that we don't mention specific locations.]

That's 99% correct. You gotta be friends or family for me to dispute it.

Q is for quiet.

Yeah that whole area is closed along SR120, Evergreen Road, and Cherry Valley Oil Road where the fire burned. Even in areas the fire went around. So yeah the primary locations we dispersed campers have been using for decades is closed. All the way west on SR120 then off the Smith Station Road are some areas in national forest but that is a really long drive into the park. Coming in from SR41 there has never been anyplace. From SR140 one only can drive over the Briceberg Bridge then use the BLM campgrounds a couple miles down the river that are just $10 a night. But then that is a long drive into the park too.

Thanks maverick, useful map. One can see where the Smith Station Road is just beyond the closed areas.
