The photos converted to B&W were off-color; I had the wrong white balance setting. You would think that you could post-process a white balance, but so far I have failed to find the secret! I am still on the learning curve where a lot can be improved! I find Yosemite Valley difficult to photograph in color. I never seemed to be in the right place at the right time for optimum photographic conditions.

I have been on this route twice and still am confused about of a stream just north of the JMT trail junction en route from Echo Valley to Clouds Rest. I crossed a pretty good flowing stream before the trail drops 200 feet to parallel Sunrise Creek, which was barely flowing. The first, good flowing creek is not on the map. What is this creek? Where does it go?

Nice shots! What kind of camera did you use?

Some of the best classic photo's of the Valley are in black & white. Fixing the
white balance shouldn't be a issue. What are you using, Lightroom, Bridge
(Photoshop)? Send me one color photo (raw) in which you say the white
balance is off so I can see whether it is a human, technical, or processing issue.

If you shot in RAW, white balance can be reset in post. If you shot jpg, I believe that the shot will suffer no matter what if you didn't use the right WB, although you can improve it in post.

A nice report and pictures. Do you know the year of the latest Lost Valley fire? I haven't been through the Merced gorge in 40+ years , but I remembera burned area above Little Yosemite similar to your photo. Upon reflection, it may have been Echo Valley that burned, and Lost Valley was choked with incense cedar.
