Today is May 13 with the Memorial Day weekend starting May 24 or 10 days out. Latest NWS 10 day forecast now is showing a possible classic holiday foul weather situation setting up for we outdoor enthusiasts over that period. In the past, a usual scenario is a forecast especially by TV and media weather people, that down plays chances of any serious stormy weather during the week preceeding the weekend, then suddenly on Friday after most people have already hit the road, start changing their tune for the worse.
THE LATEST ECMWF KEEPS TEMPERATURES SEASONABLY COOL FOR THE WEEK
OF MAY 19TH WITH ONSHORE WINDS AND CYCLONIC FLOW ALOFT. THE 10 DAY
FORECAST IS NOW OUT TO AROUND THE BEGINNING OF MEMORIAL DAY
WEEKEND AND RIGHT ON CUE SHOWS UNSEASONABLY COOL TEMPERATURES WITH
SHOWERS OVER THE SIERRA (BUT DRY OVER THE BAY AREA).
Something to consider while making plans especially for what seems numbers here that are fascinated by getting up into melting snows of the high country. This person is not going to be in the Sierra but rather on an extended road trip up in the peaking lush redwoods and coastal areas of Humboldt and Del Norte counties. For me this is good news because the last thing I want within understories of big forests is contrasty boring sunny weather but rather cloudy diffuse light weather.
